Fancy asked me to evaluate Magic Media as she knows I "dabble"
in picture editing. I have used a few other editors, but none of them
have so easily let me be so creative! I went through the tutorials on
the Peakstars site and turned some of my pictures into some really
wild stuff! I didn't have to devote hours to learning each command,
all I had to do was, well, just go!
My favorite feature was the thumbnail indexing. I don't have a horribly
huge picture collection, but it is pretty big. Big enough that it seemed a
daunting task with other filing software. Not with Magic Media. A
couple of evenings and I now have a perfectly filed and indexed thumbnail
collection of all my photos! I can make the thumbnails into a slide show
or just about whatever else I want!
Even the most advanced editing operations seem a snap to master. I
haven't been able to try each and every feature yet, but I tell you I will
be! And each one is as easy as pie to master, I just can't say that enough
times. To be a Picture Wizard, just go to the Peakstars site and check out
Magic Media, you won't regret it.

The installation of MagicMedia was done without a hitch. The software was installed and uninstalled and installed again without causing any problems. You will need to restart your computer before you start enjoying all the goodies this software has to offer (Trust me there are A LOT!). This software took us more time than usual to review, there are so many features and good things to talk about, and we didn’t want to miss any. All these features are well laid out so that a beginner to a power user would always have something new to use in the software.
You can browse and change directories with ease, following a windows explorer look and feel. The speed while switching directories was good and the speed while generating thumbnails was definitely one of the best I have seen. It is great to browse through all your multimedia files and a great viewer for movies of all sorts. I have used it everyday since I downloaded last week, I have not found any problems or glitches. The only thing I would ask to change or add is the colors included in the player are not the most pleasing to the eye. I would like to see either option to change the background colors or give the user the choice to change it.
One feature I was impressed with was the “Stealth Hide”. This gives you option to hide a directory or a drive, making the MagicMedia a”'Super' Explorer”. If you have files that you would like to keep private from the rest of the family or coworkers, this feature is ideal. You can also password protect the program, adding to the security/privacy options of MagicMedia. I would say that this software is rated highly in my personal “Must Have” software list, especially if privacy and security is your concern. There are many more options that you can use I would recommend you to download it, for $30.00 it is a great deal. Great work with a great software package...

MagicMedia is the definitive way to manage your media collection. CD-Ripping, video editing, effects processing, and media cataloging are just a few of the handy features available right out of the box.
You want features? MediaMagic has got you covered. MagicMedia allows you to generate custom thumbnails of your media for your catalog. Of course, media playback is built right in to the program for just about every format you can think of for video, image and audio. You can rip your favorite music right off your CDs and convert them to MP3 audio files with ease, then add them to your favorite play lists using the Audio Jukebox. You can add PhotoShop-like filter effects to your images such as embossing via the image effects editor. You can strip frames from movies, split or join them using the included movie editor. Don’t want your spouse or kids to find certain types of media you have stashed on your hard drive? Just protect, encrypt or hide the files or folders using the “stealth” feature. An integrated memory defragmenter keeps you going since the program is taxing on resources.
PeakStars’ MagicMedia is for the serious mediaphile who takes a lot of pride in their collection of image, video, and/or audio files on their computer hard disk. If you are into media files on the PC, then MagicMedia is definitely for you. Download it now.

MagicMedia has a few handy features available right out of the box and I certainly liked what it had to offer me,
absolutely crammed with options which more than met my requirements.
An effective package that lives up to my expectations and I even found myself sometimes getting rather engrossed.
It is beautifully realised and raises itself above the rest. In my view you will be left wondering how
you ever managed without this software.
Very Classy, a joy to use.

MagicMedia 1.70
With such a wealth of image and video
files available to everyone who has access to the
Internet, so many of us are deluged with thousands of
media files with no easy way to manage them. Searching
for and finding image and video files is tedious to say
the least. Once again one of my own needs has resulted
in the discovery of another Shareware Gem!
MagicMedia 1.70 is the answer for
your media viewing and file management needs!
With its drive and folder treeview,
MM makes easy work of locating your media files.
Clicking on any sub-directory will automatically display
thumbnails of all media files within that directory and
optionally its sub-directories. Windows networking is
supported for easy browsing of any sub-dir on your
network. Even movie files are displayed as thumbnails of
the first image of the file! MM will even extract
images and icons from multi-image formats like .TIFF,
.ICL and .EXE!! Ask MM to search a drive for all media
files and you just might be amazed at what it finds!
With MM you can create play lists
for slide shows using static image files or movie clips.
The files do not even have to exist in the same sub-dir.
Just drag and drop your selected files into the Play
List window for your own custom shows. Your audio files
are not left behind either. MM can rip your audio CDs
to create MP3 tracks and convert other audio files to .wav
or .mp3 formats. The same drag and drop interface using
the play list window can help you to organize your audio
files for custom CD burns.
MM's integrated video editor allows
even the novice to cut apart movie files and join them
back together. You can even utilize files with different
frame rates and formats. Commonly used enhancement tools
like Rotate, Crop and Size are included as well as
Contrast, Hue and Saturation adjustments.
The variety of tasks which can be
accomplished with MM seems limitless. You'll rarely
find the need to open a dedicated program to do so many
common tasks for each of the different type of media you
work with. MM can take care of them all.
Another worry that MM alleviates is
a "feature" that many users of Windows Media
Player for Windows XP have recently discovered. WMP logs
information about what DVD titles you view! You can read
more about the controversy and Microsoft's reply at http://www.computerbytesman.com/privacy/wmp8response.htm
Whether or not Microsoft is tracking your use of
different media or simply making it easier for you to
work with, many users will appreciate MM's simple
interface as a powerful and convenient alternative to
Windows Media Player.
MM can easily become your only media
player without any of these worries. It even allows the
use of a password at start-up to prevent
un-authorized use on your system.
Probably my favorite feature is MM's
ability to scan media like CDs or ZIP disks and store
catalogs of thumbnails. This allows you to "browse"
an unlimited number of media disks without having them
right at hand nor having to constantly flip each one in
and out of the drive to be read. This feature alone is
indispensable to me as I regularly search through many
disks filled with images of jewelry and gemstones in the
course of appraising those items as a part of my
full-time job as a jeweler/gemologist.
Rush on over to www.peakstars.com to get your 30-day fully-functional trial copy of MagicMedia. It has definitely become one of the permanent members of my power-computing arsenal.

Take Control of your Multimedia Files.
by Al Harberg
PeakStars Programming Arts has released MagicMedia v. 1.46, an easy to use Windows application to browse, manage, play and edit multimedia files on your local, network, and removable drives.
MagicMedia's fast and powerful thumbnail generator together with the familiar Explorer-like interface make it easy to catalog and organize your collection of images, movies, and music. Simply point to the directory containing your files, decide if you want to include subdirectories, and MagicMedia will create thumbnails and a catalog of all of your photos, video, and audio files. MagicMedia supports more than 30 image formats, as well as all popular video and music formats.
Fastfind files browsing your thumbnails, or search for keywords in the file names. To view or play a file, doubleclick a thumbnail or Drag&Drop files onto the Playlist Panel to create mixed-media playlists for convenient slide shows, movie series, or audio arrangements. Because MagicMedia has fully integrated the file management functions with an image viewer, movie viewer and music player, there's no need to activate (slow starting, memory consuming) external programs and to move back and forth between them to enjoy all of your multimedia files.
In addition, MagicMedia offers handy editing capabilities for changing contrast, hue, saturation, size, and many more attributes of all of your photos or videoclips. MagicMedia's video editor lets you cut and join movies of different sizes, formats, and frame rates - a quite valuable option to create rough cuts of video projects. You can extract, display, and save individual movie frames. The audio editor makes it easy to convert Audio files to Wav or MP3 format and arrange tracks for burning a custom AudioCD-ROM.
You can even automatically build HTML pages of your multimedia files, for publishing on your web site.

[Program Review at Rocket Download]
by Nick Smith
Magic Media is a complete file manager for your multimedia. Developed along the lines of Windows Explorer, you can browse and view multimedia files on all of your local, network and removable drives. The program supports dozens of major image, video and audio files. However, Magic Media's best feature is its powerful
ability to generate thumbnails. By browsing the familiar
directory tree and clicking a folder, the program displays
all supported images contained in it. The interface also
identifies the presence of other files, giving you the
direct ability to watch and hear your music and movie clips.
Because the program includes both viewer and player
components, it eliminates the need for you to constantly
open separate applications.
Magic Media provides all of the options you'd expect in a file manager. You'll be able to import and export files between the directory as well as rename and delete items. An excellent feature is that you can create and store mixed-media playlists by dragging and dropping items to a panel on the interface. Magic Media includes a host of extra other features, such as separate video editor for cutting and joining movie files. In addition, you can convert WAVE audio files to MP3, and arrange tracks for burning to a CD-ROM. There's even an
HTML Generation tool for creating image thumbnails for your
Web site. This shareware version is fully functional, but
expires after 30 days.
